Individual Tutor Job Descriptions

 

Review the LSS Employment Opportunities for basic qualifications for all LSS tutoring positions and for directions on how to apply.

After being interviewed, all potential LSS candidates must submit a letter of recommendation from an instructor. You do not have to provide this until you have completed an interview. 

 

Individual Writing Tutor Responsibilities:

  • Be available to work 8-10 hours a week as well as attend any trainings offered throughout the quarter
  • Hold at least six individual writing tutoring appointments each week. Appointments are 1-hour.
  • Attend a biweekly writing tutor training with an LSS coordinator
  • Perform other logistical tasks: Keep accurate attendance records, submit timesheets biweekly

 

Study Hall Writing Tutor Responsibilities

Study Hall writing tutors support students in all their writing assignments across disciplines. Study Hall Writing tutors roam around the room and work with students individually. Additionally, tutors encourage students to create study groups with folks in the same class as them.  

  • Be available to work 8-10 hours a week as well as attend any trainings offered throughout the quarter
  • Be available to work at least two 4-hour shifts
  • Perform other logistical tasks: Keep accurate attendance records, submit timesheets biweekly

 

Study Hall Math Tutor Responsibilities

Study Hall Math tutors support students at math levels from pre-calculus to vector calculus. Study Hall Math tutors work with students individually and encourage students to create study groups with folks in the same class as them.  

  • Be available to work 8-10 hours a week as well as attend any trainings offered throughout the quarter
  • Be available to work at least two 4-hour shifts
  • Perform other logistical tasks: Keep accurate attendance records, submit timesheets biweekly
