Individual & Study Hall Tutor Job Descriptions

LSS is not hiring for these positions for the 2024-2025 Academic Year.

Individual Tutor Job Descriptions:

Review the LSS Employment Opportunities for basic qualifications for all LSS tutoring positions and for directions on how to apply.

Individual Writing Tutor Duties:
  • Be available to work 8-10 hours a week as well as attend any trainings offered throughout the quarter
  • Hold at least six individual writing tutoring appointments each week. Appointments are 1-hour.
  • Attend a biweekly writing tutor training with an LSS coordinator
  • Perform other logistical tasks: Keep accurate attendance records, submit timesheets biweekly 
Writing Study Hall Tutor Duties:

Study Hall writing tutors support students in all their writing assignments across disciplines. Writing Study Hall tutors roam around the room and work with students individually. Additionally, tutors encourage students to create study groups with folks in the same class as them.  

  • Must have received a B or better in WRIT 2
  • Be available to work 8-10 hours a week as well as attend any trainings offered throughout the quarter
  • Be available to work at least two 4-hour shifts
  • Perform other logistical tasks: Keep accurate attendance records, submit timesheets biweekly
Math Study Hall Tutor Duties:

Study Hall Math tutors support students at math levels from pre-calculus to vector calculus. Math Study Hall tutors work with students individually and encourage students to create study groups with folks in the same class as them.  

  • Must have received a B or better in MATH courses up to MATH 23B
  • Be available to work 8-10 hours a week as well as attend any trainings offered throughout the quarter
  • Be available to work at least two 4-hour shifts
  • Perform other logistical tasks: Keep accurate attendance records, submit timesheets biweekly
