Student Office Assistant Position and Qualifications

 

Overall, position requires 10-13 hours a week

Student office Assistants help coordinators and professional staff create, maintain, and implement the logistics of all LSS programs. They assist in guiding tutors and Learning Assistants through scheduling, answering student questions, and outreach efforts through online platforms and tabling events (when physically on campus). They also assist our office in data upkeep and records.

Expectations:

  • A desire to orient students to the programs and services offered by Learning Support Services.

  • An eagerness to develop computer skills

  • Office duties include: filing, data entering, answering office phone and email

  • Must attend trainings each quarter, usually held on Saturdays

  • Must attend a weekly meeting

  • Complete one tabling outreach event each quarter

  • Assist with preparation for tutor training activities

  • Assist students with Tutor Trac, the Online Tutoring Sign-up System.

  • Help students be comfortable and productive in the ARCenter (and through Remote Learning, if Shelter in place continues for the 2020-2021 Academic Year).

  • Maintain LSS MSI/tutoring in the ARC and in other MSI/tutor spaces across campus.  This could include light cleaning, rearranging furniture, replenishing supplies, and cleaning whiteboards.

  • Holding Online "Front Desk Zoom Hours" during Shelter in Place Ordinances due to the Coronavirus
