Supplemental Instruction (SI)

What is SI?

Supplemental Instruction (SI) incorporates high-touch practice sessions that closely follow the content and lecture material of a course. In SI Sessions, students work collaboratively to practice concepts and problems from lecture. The SI Leader attends each lecture and prepares unique sessions throughout the week that incorporate active learning strategies and collaborative learning techniques

How Can I Attend?

Weekly attendance is not mandatory for SI, but research shows* that when students attend SI sessions regularly, they are less likely to withdraw, receive a D grade, or receive an F grade. Research also shows that SI sessions have the ability to raise a students’ letter grade by up to 0.5 points. To sign up for SI sessions, visit our TutorHub information page for instructions or directly log in on the LSS Tutor Hub using your Cruz ID gold login.
